Born and raised in Minnesota, Anita started studying Art as a Major at Moorhead State College in 1970.

In 1972 she entered a Traveling Art Show sponsored by the University of Minnesota and won Honorable Mention for one of her paintings titled Sails. In the following years, Anita spent time crafting, knitting, crocheting and embroidery while raising her children. During this time, she entered craft shows with her original designs of crocheted doll clothes, infant and children's sweaters and hand crafted keepsake velvet boxes. Many years later, she returned to painting bringing her years of life's experiences and her desire to travel to each piece of artwork.

In 2005, Anita was the featured Artist at the Governor's Office in Bismarck, North Dakota. In the spring of 2006, she was one of the featured artists at the highly sought after Roughrider Fine Art Show in Williston, North Dakota, selling her first painting.
